For those who have little or no experience, this class will be your introduction to all things horses! You’ll learn the fundamentals of how to safely approach and handle a horse, including hands on time to groom, halter, and lead. We think you’ll leave feeling more confident than you came!

It’s no secret that horses live in herds…but why is this so significant? How do horses communicate and interact with one another? How does what we know about a horse’s natural environment and life in a herd impact how we care for them? This class will discuss aspects of herd dynamics and how we can learn to positively engage with them and meet their needs.

This class will cover the many ways we group and classify horses. We’ll cover basic anatomy,  tack, and training. Participants will also learn how to measure a horse, identify their gaits, and get to know and see real examples of the different types of horses and disciplines we have at our facility. 

This class will answer the following questions and more: How does what we know about horse health, behavior, and training help us to care for them and provide for their basic needs? What are special requirements that some horses have? What are some of the challenges and common issues and ailments that arise?  How much does it cost to keep a horse healthy and sound? Thinking you’d like to own a horse someday? Then this class is definitely for you!
